Market Reports

Wednesday 4th September 2019 - 1st seasons show and sale of Mule Ewes and Mule Ewe Lambs at Tavistock Livestock Centre, PL19 9BB.

A very disappointing number entry of 385 Mule Ewe Lambs met a better than expected trade which was up on the same sale last year. Our thanks go to the Judge Mr Paul Berry and the Sponsors being Tithebarn, Cornish Mutual, Duchy of Cornwall and Harpers Feeds.

The Judge awarded the Champion Rosette to Messrs WJL Heard, Okehampton for their pen of Swaledale bred ewe lambs which later went on to top the sale prices as well at £108. Reserve Champion pen went to Messrs K C & J C Heard, Okehampton for their pen of Scotch bred ewe lambs which went on to sell at £106; with their other Scotch bred pens going on to make £105, £102 and £95.

There was a good contingent of buyers with many going home empty handed. Other vendors enjoyed equally strong trade which included Messrs N J & M J Cole, Yelverton who saw their Swale bred ewe lambs sell to £89 and their Scotch bred ewe lambs sell to £88. Abel Bros, Peter Tavy had their usual good run which topped at £78 with other pens at £76, £74 and £73.
